In the Gold and Silver edition of Burned Tower, there are three trainers. These include your rival and a trainer by the name of Firebreather Ned. However, the third trainer is who I wanna focus on. There is a third trainer by the name of Firebreather “Dick. Firebreather “Dick”, is an excellently designed trainer. He has a Lv 17 Charmeleon, a Pokemon sure to challenge you at this point in the game. This Charmeleon has the perfect movepool and level this point in the game, and a Charmeleon makes perfect sense for Burned Tower. Firebreather “Dick” is an excellent and memorable trainer. Most people I have talked to that have played Gold/Silver have called Firebreather “Dick” a memorable trainer for his well designed battle and other factors. Firebreather Dick is not just great game design, he even has a personality. After you beat him, he says be got burned out, and to to with that they change his overworld sprite to Gray. That is funny, man! The fact that they changed his appearance truly shows how much effort went into this trainer. Fuck Red, Firebreather “Dick” is Gold and Silvers masterpiece battle.
In Pokemon Crystal, Firebreather Ned and Firebreather “Dick” were removed. This is assinine game design. Firebreather Ned was Ok, but Firebreather “Dick” was an excellent challenge and wonderful guy. Every time I play Crystal and reach Burned Tower, I am over come with disappointment when I realise Firebreather “Dick” is nowhere to be found. The removal of Firebreather ”Dick” alone makes Crystal worse than GS for me.
Also, Heart Gold and Soul Silver fuck it up even more. They actually BROUGHT BACK Firebreather Ned…but Firebreather “Dick” was renamed to Richard? What the fuck? Who is this Richard jackass? Game Freak seriously tried to remove the legacy of Gold and Silvers best trainer. People say Pokemon has been going down hill since (INSERT GAME), but it has really been going down since 2000. This is when Game Freak decided to nuke their games best trainers.
